O-Level Art (Ages 13+)
This O-Level Art Course is designed for students who already have a strong foundation in art and wish to refine their skills in preparation for the Matsec Art O-Level Exam. Whether students plan to take art as a subject in school or sit for the exam privately, the structured lessons, hands-on practice, and guided tutorials, students will develop their technical proficiency in drawing, painting, and printmaking, while also strengthening their creative and analytical thinking.
What You’ll Learn
Mastering Core Techniques – Enhancing skills in pencil shading, perspective, still life, and composition.
Developing a Strong Portfolio – Building a cohesive body of work with artist research, creative exploration, and finished pieces.
Still Life Drawing & Painting – Improve observational skills by creating accurate and expressive still-life studies using different media.
Composition & Thematic Work – Develop ideas from a given theme, research, and create preparatory work leading to a final artwork.
Exploring a Range of Media – Working with graphite pencils, ink fineliners, dip pen & ink, acrylics, and aquarelle pencils.
Lino Printing – Learning the technique of relief printmaking to create striking graphic compositions
Understanding Visual Thinking – Learning how to critically analyse artwork and connect personal work with established artists and art movements
Course-Work Development – Completing essential coursework under the guidance of an experienced tutor to meet O-Level requirements
This course provides a comprehensive approach to artistic growth, ensuring that students gain the necessary technical skills, confidence, and creative expression to succeed in their O-Level Art Exam.
Course Details
Mode of Study: Once weekly (2 hours each lesson)
Duration: 10 lessons
Requirements: Age 13+,Art Materials, and students need to have a basic knowledge of art before attending the course. If you are a beginner we recommend the Preparation for O-Level Course (Ages 12+)
What’s Included: Hands-on teaching, individual attention, practice and theory, course-work guidance.
Certification: Upon attendance of 80% of the Course, students will be accredited for their Informal Learning and given a signed and stamped form for their Informal Education by the Institute.

Tax Deduction on Fees paid for Cultural and Creative Courses:
Parents of children under 16 who attended any Cultural or Creative courses at Art Academy are eligible for a tax deduction scheme of up to a maximum of €300 for each child. Parents are entitled to claim a deduction against their chargeable income of up to a maximum of €300 for each child.
You don't need to do anything, we will apply for you after the completion of the course.
