Non-formal learning occurs when one participates in organised activities. This type of learning is intentional and may lead to certification.

Students attending courses at Art Academy Malta will be accredited for their Informal Learning and given a signed and stamped form for their Informal Education by the institute only if they attend 80% of the course. 

What is Non-Formal Learning?

How do you obtain certification?

To obtain certification, students are obliged to take part in either 2 or 3 informal activities/courses during their Secondary Cycle based on when they will be finishing Form 5.

Secondary School students attending private, public and church schools in the Maltese islands, are encouraged to qualify to receive a certificate at Level 1 or Level 2 of the Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF) and of the European Framework for Lifelong Learning. To successfully achieve this Secondary Education certification, students are given credit in the following five areas: Attendance, Formal Education, Informal Education, Non-Formal Education and Personal Qualities.

Tax Deduction on Fees paid for Cultural and Creative Courses

Parents and guardians of children and youth who are under 16 years by the 31st December 2024 and attended Cultural or Creative courses during 2024 can benefit from a tax deduction scheme of up to a maximum of €300 for each child and youth. If the course was provided by an entity or individual recognised by Arts Council Malta, parents and guardians are entitled to claim a deduction against their chargeable income of up to a maximum of €300 for each child and youth.
