Wood Whittling - 2-Day Wood Carving Workshop
Step into the tranquil and rewarding world of wood carving with our 2-Day Wood Whittling Workshop. Whether you’re new to the craft or looking to refine your skills, this workshop offers the perfect introduction to the art of whittling, a soothing and gratifying activity that allows you to create something beautiful with just a piece of wood and a craft knife.
What You'll Learn:
Introduction to Whittling & Wood Carving: On the first day, we’ll cover the basics of whittling, including the different types of tools, the best wood to use, and essential safety precautions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
Traditional Hand-Carving Techniques: You’ll start with a simple block of wood and learn the art of shaping it using traditional whittling techniques. With guidance from our skilled instructor, you’ll bring your wood carving to life step by step.
Craft Knife Skills: Learn how to properly use a craft knife to achieve the perfect balance between control and precision, creating detailed and impressive carvings.
Whittling Basics & Beyond: Whether you're crafting a figure, texture, or pattern, the 2-day format provides the time and space needed to develop your skills and build confidence in your carving abilities.
Over the course of two days, you’ll receive hands-on guidance and have the chance to work at your own pace, achieving greater detail and refinement in your carving. This workshop is ideal for complete beginners, as well as those who have tried whittling before and wish to refresh or improve their skills.
Workshop Details:
Duration: 5 hours (over 2 sessions)
Location: Art Academy Mosta (131, Constitution Street, Mosta)
Requirements: 16+ welcome, anti-cut gloves and/or anti-cut tape (students without hand protection will not be allowed to work with the knives for safety reasons)
What’s Included: Basswood blocks, carving knives, leather strop, polishing compound, beeswax, and sandpaper will be provided by Art Academy for use during the workshop.
