Advanced Photography Course
Art Academy’s Advanced Photography Course for Adults is conducted by Mr Christopher Azzopardi, an international award-winning photographer and Malta Photographer of the Year several years running. This course is a follow-up at an advanced level of the Photography Course for Beginners. It consists of a mixture of indoor sessions are Art Academy in Mosta and several outdoor sessions.
Course Outline
Lesson 1: Lighting - Advantages and disadvantages of using natural light, light meter speed lights and studio lights. What is the best light modifier to use to modify the available light?
Lesson 2: Still-Life Photography - Composing and shooting artistic still-life arrangements
Lesson 3: High-Speed Photography - High-speed photography using limited equipment
Lesson 4: Environmental Portraiture - This is going to be an outdoor photo-shoot where we are going to shoot a portrait in its own environment. In this lesson, Chris will show how to shoot environmental portraits using his style. All the students will have the opportunity to shoot a portrait themselves. (Outdoor Session)
Lesson 5: Macro Photography - Learning the difference between macro photography & close up photography. We will cover which lenses and adapters are best suited for macro photography. We will also see how one can shoot macro photos using a macro lens and normal lenses using extension tubes.
Lesson 6: Seascape Photography - For this lesson, we will go to one of Malta’s most beautiful beaches to take photos on location. In this lesson, we will learn how to shoot an artistic seascape and highlight what to include or exclude in a seascape photo. (Outdoor Session).
Lesson 7: Architecture Photography - How to shoot interior and exterior photography. We will also see how to fix converging lines using Photoshop
Lesson 8: Low Light Photography - This is going to be an outdoor session. In this lesson, we will learn how to shoot outdoors in low light using a tripod. Furthermore, we will also see how to shoot in low light situations when a tripod is not available. (Outdoor Session)
Lesson 9: Black and White Photography - In this lesson, we will learn how to shoot images for black and white photography and how to process them in Photoshop
Lesson 10: Project & Critique - For this session, a specific title is given 5 weeks in advance. Those students who decide to participate will prepare 3 images according to the given title. The tutor will then give constructive feedback on each submitted image.

Location: Art Academy Malta (131 Constitution Street, Mosta, Malta) and other outdoor locations in Malta as specified by the teacher
Tutor: Christopher Azzopardi (B.Ed (Hons.), Dip. in Fine Arts, AMIPP, AMPS)
Requirements: Age 18+, Digital Camera (DSLR) or mirrorless camera, a good basic knowledge of photography or has attended the Photography Course for Beginners at Art Academy
What’s Included: Hands-on teaching, individual attention, practice and theory, different lighting, life model for the portrait session, outdoor sessions and certificate.
Language: The course is taught in English
