Travel Photography Workshop in Nadur
In this three-hour interactive workshop, you will develop essential skills to enhance your travel photography. Through a combination of an indoor lecture and an outdoor photography walk, you will learn how to compose compelling images, work with natural light, and tell visual stories through your photographs. Whether you’re capturing quick moments on the go or planning the perfect shot, this session will provide you with practical techniques to elevate your work. If you have a specific style or photo in mind, bring an example, and we’ll break down the methods to achieve it.
Lunch will be provided at the end of the workshop, offering a great opportunity to discuss your experience and network with fellow participants.
What You’ll Learn:
Documenting vs. Photographing – Understand the difference between quickly capturing moments and thoughtfully composing images. Learn when to slow down and what to focus on to tell a story.
Mastering Light & Shadows – Discover how light affects definition, how to overcome flat lighting during the day, and the best times for photography, such as dusk and dawn.
Telling a Story in a Single Image – Explore techniques to simplify your subject, create balance through composition, and capture the essence of a scene.
Creative Use of Perspective – Experiment with different heights, angles, and wide-angle perspectives to enhance your images.
Overcoming Common Challenges – Learn to anticipate the right moment, be patient, and understand why your photos might not look the same as what you see with your eyes.
Photographing People – Navigate the ethical and legal aspects of capturing portraits while traveling. Understand when to ask for permission and whether payment is appropriate.
Exploring Your Own Country Like a Tourist – Discover how to see familiar places with fresh eyes, get off the beaten path, and capture unique images.
Essential Tools & Techniques – Learn when to use a tripod, master monopod techniques, work with polarizing and neutral density filters, and apply basic post-processing skills to enhance your images.
By the end of this session, you will have gained both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, allowing you to apply these skills to your future travel photography. No prior experience is needed! Whether you’re a total beginner or looking to refine your existing skills, our professional instructor will guide you through every step.
Duration: 3 hours (1 hour lecture, 2 hour photography walk in Nadur and lunch)
Location: Art Academy Nadur (Triq Agius de Soldanis, Nadur, Gozo)
Age: Suitable for participants aged 16 and up.
Requirements: Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook and their camera or mobile for taking photos.
